Czechia: since 2021 there is only the electronic vignette — linked to the number plate and checked by camera. Whether Prague, Brno or transit towards Slovakia and Poland — it is mandatory on the D1, D5, D8 and the other motorways. We register it with the operator SFDI for your plate; confirmation arrives by email, usually within 15 minutes.

Who needs a vignette?
Every vehicle up to 3.5 t — cars, campervans up to 3.5 t and motorcycles. It is required on all tolled motorways (D roads) in Czechia. The obligation applies from the first slip road, even in pure transit.

Where it is valid — and where not
It is required on all tolled motorways (D roads) in Czechia. Some sections around Prague and near cities are toll-free and signposted accordingly; ordinary roads need no vignette.
Digital, linked to your plate
Since 2021 the vignette is registered electronically for the plate. Nothing to stick, nothing to print — the email confirmation with the registration number is your proof.
Valid from when
From the start date you choose when ordering — even the same day. We register the vignette with the operator and send the confirmation usually within 15 minutes. Order before the border, not on the motorway.
Enforcement and fines
Checks are automatic by camera and by mobile teams. Without a valid vignette the fine is many times the price of the vignette.
Common mistakes
Most problems arise before the purchase:
- A typo in the plate — the vignette is valid only for exactly that plate
- Wrong country of registration selected
- Driving on without a vignette, planning to buy “later”
- Assuming special toll sections or tunnels are included
Motorcycles and alternative drives
Motorcycles are exempt from the vignette in Czechia. Electric and hydrogen vehicles are exempt as well; CNG and LPG vehicles pay a reduced rate — these exemptions must be registered directly with the operator; here the standard rate applies.

From when is the vignette valid?
From the chosen start date, once the operator has confirmed the registration — usually within 15 minutes of ordering.
Do I have to stick anything on the windscreen?
No. The vignette is digital and recognised by the plate. Keep the email confirmation.
What if there is a mistake in the plate?
The vignette is linked to the plate and cannot be changed afterwards. We check the format before purchase and show the plate once more before payment. Contact us immediately if you notice an error.
Does it cover campervans and trailers?
Campervans up to 3.5 t, yes. A trailer needs no vignette of its own — it applies to the towing vehicle.
Can I transfer the vignette to another vehicle?
No. It is valid only for the plate given at the time of ordering.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Before registration with the operator: yes, in full. Afterwards the vignette is valid and a refund is no longer possible (Section 356 BGB). Details on the “Refunds & cancellation” page.
I mistyped my plate — what now?
Write to us immediately with your order number. As long as the vignette is not yet registered, we correct it free of charge.
Do motorcycles need a vignette in Czechia?
No — motorcycles are exempt. Cars and campervans up to 3.5 t need the vignette.
