Buy vignette Switzerland

Switzerland: since 2023 there is only the electronic vignette — linked to the number plate and checked by camera. Whether Basel–Chiasso via the Gotthard, Zurich or transit to Italy — the vignette is mandatory on the national roads (motorways). We register it with the operator BAZG for your plate; confirmation arrives by email, usually within 15 minutes.

  • A valid e-vignette for your plate
  • Email confirmation, PDF to keep
  • Nothing to stick on — fully digital
  • Registered in the operator’s system

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter plate and period

Choose the country and period, enter your plate and country of registration. We check the format immediately — a typo would mean a vignette for someone else’s car.

  2. 2

    Pay securely

Pay by card via Airwallex. The total price is fixed before payment — no subscriptions, no renewals, no hidden costs.

  3. 3

    Receive confirmation by email

We register the vignette with the operator for your plate and email the confirmation with the registration number — usually within 15 minutes. Nothing to stick on, nothing to print.

Usually within 15 minutes.

Prices and periods

Final prices for cars up to 3.5 t, incl. VAT.

Motorcycle

The vignette is valid for the plate you enter when ordering and cannot be transferred.

Who needs a vignette?

Every vehicle up to 3.5 t — cars, campervans up to 3.5 t and motorcycles. It is required on all national roads of the first and second class — Switzerland’s motorways and expressways. The obligation applies from the first slip road, even in pure transit.

  • Transit counts — even for an hour
  • Trailers need no vignette of their own
  • Rental cars: the vignette is tied to the plate, not the person

Where it is valid — and where not

It is required on all national roads of the first and second class — Switzerland’s motorways and expressways. Trailers and caravans need their own vignette in Switzerland. The vignette covers a calendar year: from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year — there is no short-term vignette.

Digital, linked to your plate

Since 2023 the vignette is registered electronically for the plate. Nothing to stick, nothing to print — the email confirmation with the registration number is your proof.

Valid from when

From the start date you choose when ordering — even the same day. We register the vignette with the operator and send the confirmation usually within 15 minutes. Order before the border, not on the motorway.

Enforcement and fines

Checks are automatic by camera and by mobile teams. Without a valid vignette a fine is due (amount: see info card) — plus you still have to buy the vignette.

Common mistakes

Most problems arise before the purchase:

  • A typo in the plate — the vignette is valid only for exactly that plate
  • Wrong country of registration selected
  • Driving on without a vignette, planning to buy “later”
  • Assuming special toll sections or tunnels are included

Why order with us

Every sales channel registers the same vignette in the same operator database. The difference is the service. If you prefer to buy directly from the operator, the link is on every country page.

  • One site in your language — instead of eight operator portals in eight languages.
  • Your plate is checked before purchase — the most common source of errors.
  • Personal handling and email support, also at weekends.
  • One fixed price: the amount shown is the total incl. VAT — no subscription, no automatic renewal.

What to check before paying

  1. 1Plate exactly as on the vehicle
  2. 2Country of registration
  3. 3Vehicle type: car or motorcycle
  4. 4Start date — afterwards the vignette is bound to these details

Frequently asked questions

From when is the vignette valid?

From the chosen start date, once the operator has confirmed the registration — usually within 15 minutes of ordering.

Do I have to stick anything on the windscreen?

No. The vignette is digital and recognised by the plate. Keep the email confirmation.

What if there is a mistake in the plate?

The vignette is linked to the plate and cannot be changed afterwards. We check the format before purchase and show the plate once more before payment. Contact us immediately if you notice an error.

Does it cover campervans and trailers?

Campervans up to 3.5 t, yes. A trailer needs no vignette of its own — it applies to the towing vehicle.

Can I transfer the vignette to another vehicle?

No. It is valid only for the plate given at the time of ordering.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Before registration with the operator: yes, in full. Afterwards the vignette is valid and a refund is no longer possible (Section 356 BGB). Details on the “Refunds & cancellation” page.

I mistyped my plate — what now?

Write to us immediately with your order number. As long as the vignette is not yet registered, we correct it free of charge.

Is there a 10-day vignette?

No. Switzerland only has the annual vignette — even for a single transit. It is valid from 1 December to 31 January of the year after next.

Does my caravan need its own vignette?

Yes. Trailers and caravans need an additional vignette for their own plate in Switzerland.
