How the Slovak vignette works

The local term is diaľničná známka, also e-známka. It is digital, tied to the plate and valid on motorways and expressways for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

The trailer rule

If the towing vehicle and trailer together exceed 3.5 tonnes, an additional vignette is required for the trailer. Anyone travelling with a caravan or a heavy trailer should check this before the border — Austria has no such rule, Slovakia does.

From short transit periods up to an annual vignette. What we arrange is listed on the Slovakia country page; a run towards Hungary or Poland is usually covered by the 10-day vignette.

Enforcement

Fixed cameras and mobile units check plates without stopping anyone. Your confirmation email is the proof; no sticker is issued.
